What is Data Protection?

The PDPA emphasized the importance of protecting individuals’ personal data whilst still making it possible for organizations to collect, use, and disclose of personal information for lawful and reasonable purposes.

A data protection administration is important to prevent the misuse of personal data and to maintain individuals’ trust in companies that handle their data.

The PDPA also aims to enhance Singapore’s position as a trusted business hub by legislating the flow of personal data between businesses.

Why Data Protection?

  • Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) makes it compulsory that every organisation needs to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and make the contact details public. This is not only applied to big corporations.
  • Every organisation also needs to identify key personnel to attend at least one (01) PDPC course if the organisation does not possess any prior data protection certifications.
